BOLLYWOOD Super Star - Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone is clearly the Super Star – no lets make that the
superstar right at this moment, with her latest release ‘Om Shanti Om’
opposite Shahrukh Khan. Before ‘Om Santi Om’, her first appearance was in the
music album ‘Aap Ka Suroor” by Himesh Reshammiya for the song ‘Naam Hai Tera’.
She had already made her debut in the film industry with a Kannada movie ‘Aishwarya’
opposite Kannada movie star Upendra in 2006. Deepika Padukone is also a
leading model right at this juncture. Apart from being a successful model, she
is also a hype in the advertisement world. Deepika Padukone was awarded
the Society Young Achievers’ Award 2004. Deepika Padukone also won the
Model of the Year Award 2005 at the Lakme India Fashion Week. These
awards were the first step towards her success in the glamour world. Deepika
Padukone is also a successful brand ambassador for a leading cloth line as
well as Jewels of India with a present brand valuation of 80 lakhs. Apart from
this, she has also been announced the brand ambassador for Kingfisher
Airlines. To add to this she has also taken up the brand ambassadorship of
Levi’s Denims as well as Parachute coconut oil. Deepika Padukone has created
this identity for herself in spite of being the daughter of the legendary
Prakash Padukone, who was the World Badminton Champion and is a brand by
himself.
‘Om Shanti Om’ directed by Farah Khan, has already made a gala opening
and is running successfully worldwide making Deepika Padukone one of the most
saleable stars in Bollywood today. Deepika Padukone plays the role of an
actress in the movie, and on the other hand she is portrayed as a very simple
girl whose dream is to have a family of her own. The story revolves mainly on
the theme of rebirth. This formula was also a hit in the olden days and still
today the charm of this formula does not seem to have died down. Deepika
Padukone has become clearly a big factor in the in selling the film. She has a
fresh look and this factor has a huge contribution in marketing the film.
Deepika Padukone seems to have taken tips from actresses of the 70’s to do
full justice to her character. Her image in the film is of a common Indian
woman who dreams of a home for her own. As a whole it can be said Deepika
Padukone has been a new find for Bollywood in terms of looks as well as
talent. It is very rare that someone who is so successful on the ramp succeeds
in the Hindi film industry but Deepika Padukone has proved such notions
totally incorrect.
Deepika Padukone looks a natural athlete with a height of 5 ft 9 inches.
She was born on January 5th 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark and spent
her childhood in Bangalore. She did her schooling from Sophia’s High
School, Bangalore and completed her undergraduate program from Mount Carmel
College. Deepika Padukone entered the international Scenario with her first
campaign with Maybelline, one of the most renowned cosmetic brands. Deepika
Padukone was associated with the glamour world from the very childhood and has
appeared in various advertisement campaigns including that of Close-up, Liril
and so on. Deepika Padukone has received formal training in Bharatnatyam
dancing and has also played badminton at the state level like her father. But
unlike her father she could not continue the game because of her board exams
and to add to this was acting which was her passion as she could associate
herself with it but she was not very comfortable with playing badminton.
Deepika’s mother, Ujjala Padukone is a travel agent. This beautiful actress
has a younger sister named Anisha. Her graceful appearance and dimpled smile
made her feature in Kingfisher’s Swimsuit calendar 2006. The title for the
female model of the year for commercial assignments and Fresh Face of the year
at Idea Zee F Awards has also been awarded to her. This actress has maintained
her stardom with grace as she is very calm and composed. Aishwariya Rai is her
idol and to be like her she has a long way to go in her acting career.
Deepika got her formal
training from the maestro himself who is none other than Mr. Anupam Kher. His
training institution was the place where she got her formal acting training
from. She was a quick learner as well as a very dedicated student.
Like the usual trend in
Bollywood, Deepika Padukone has already been linked with various men and the
recent gossip is her relationship with the famous cricketer Mahindra Singh
Dhoni.
Now leaving apart the reel
life and coming to her real life, Deepika Padukone is a very timid person with
lots of values which she has inherited from her parents. She is not at all an
extrovert. During her spare time, she is either spending time with her friends
and if not that she prefers to fly home and spend time with her family. Her
favourite films are Matrix and Charlie’s Angels. She has always admired three
women in the industry whom she saw acting when she was growing up and they are
none other than Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit and of course Aishwariya Rai.
Deepika Padukone has signed a
film directed by Priyadarshan which is named ‘Pirate’, also starring
Kunal Khemu and Shreyas Talpade and will also feature opposite Akshay Kumar in
the film ‘Made In China’ in the recent future.
According to Deepika Padukone
there are three D’s which are needed for someone to grow in any field of life
and they are dedication, discipline and determination. Within this small span
of 21 years she has acclaimed fame and has a huge fan following. She is
the heartthrob of today’s youth and the most promising newcomer. Success has
not changed her fundamentally and she remains the down to earth person. Today
she realizes that her responsibilities have gone up as people expect much more
from her. Selection of good roles is the most important strategy for her, but
anyways Deepika is certainly smashing the records at the box office these
days.
